Our Director : Karla Ramos Rivas
Karla has been involved in applied linguistics and evolutionary psycholinguistics because of her interest in the language acquisition process and in language study itself. In 2006, she graduated with honors with a degree in Spanish Philology from the University of Costa Rica. Currently, she is preparing her master’s thesis in linguistics at the same university. She has worked with domestic and international companies dedicated to language instruction. Karla has taught in Costa Rica and France, where she gained experience working with children and adults.
Her drive to learn and to be on the cutting edge in her field has led Karla to do research on relevant educational issues such as Down Syndrome and language acquisition, the differences between monolingual and multilingual individuals, and teaching and learning methods for children, among others. As a result, since 2007 Karla has participated in several national and international congresses presenting her unique and innovative methodology for teaching language to children with Down Syndrome.
At Global Kids, Karla serves as director of the center and is responsible for the administration, operations and research. She teaches French, Spanish and English.
